Frustrated with conferences that herald the millions of government procurement dollars available for small businesses without much detail on how to tap into that market, business owner KC Ford has started organizing her own conferences to provide such details. Her company, GettingThere4Him, Inc., the host of the How-To Conference (HTC), has been awarded the “Small Business of the Year
” award from Another Approach Enterprises for the education and empowerment offered to HTC attendees. GettingThere4Him, Inc. was also one of the 2009 “Top 100 MBE Award” recipients for its imprint on the small business community.
On October 28, 2009, Ms. Ford sponsored her fifth conference at the Comfort Inn in Bowie, which provided an expanded venue of speakers and activities. These conferences are designed to help better prepare small, minority, and disadvantaged businesses bidding for prime and subcontracting opportunities with government agencies and commercial businesses seeking their services or products.
